An amazing piece of architecture!
Rialto Bridge (or Ponte di Rialto in Italian) is probably one of the most visited and photographed bridges of Venice. This famous bridge has enjoyed a long history and with its majestic architecture, the Rialto Bridge continues to inspire everybody who visits this place. Located in the centre of the city, the bridge connects the districts of San Marco and San Polo across the Grand Canal. It was opened in 1591 and during period of nearly 300 years it was the only way to cross the Grand Canal. The structure of the Rialto Bridge is formed by two inclined ramps with shops on each side, covered by a portico. The bridge is surrounded by many important city functions, such as the city´s markets which have been there for already hundreds of years, offering fresh products and fish. Nowadays the Rialto Bridge is not only a means of crossing the canal anymore, since it has become one of the biggest tourist attractions of Venice and furthermore one of the best places in the city from which to make a photograph. So Ponte di Rialto is definitely one of the must-sees when visiting the charming city of Venice.
