Find out what this square has to offer!
A sight to behold
Recognized as one of the bigger and more famous squares in the city of Rome, the Piazza Navona was built in the first century A.D. and was formerly a site where ancient Romans came to watch games and cheer for their heroes. The square itself houses many different important sculptural and architectural creations including the Fountain of the Four Rivers and the Obelisk of Domitian, towering high above all others in the center.
In addition to the already plentiful artwork, the square is also home to several other fountains: Fontana del Moro with ancient Greek god carvings and in the north end of the square, the Fountain of Neptune. Many tourists are drawn to these important pieces of art each year and thus the Piazza is always crowded with both tourists and locals alike. The square itself has featured in many different movies, with the most important one the controversial Angels and Demons, based on Dan Brown’s thrillers.
Piazza Navona is located in the old historic center of Rome, west of the Pantheon. Known as one of Rome’s liveliest squares, with countless cafes, restaurants and clubs in the neighborhood. A perfect place if you want to be close to all the other touristic hotspots.
